Antique Tibetan Lapis Lazuli and Silver Gau Box Necklace

Gau boxes were meant to be traveling prayer boxes which the owner would put an amulet or other protective measure sealed within it in to keep them safe on their travels. This antique Gau box from the early 20th century is made and decorated of silver and lapis lazuli and resides on a necklace of silver disks with additional lapis decoration. I have not attempted to open it as to do so would ruin the piece but the space within is clearly visible when looking at back of piece. The clasp is a simple hook
