Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was a renowned Italian architect and designer, known for his significant contribution to 20th century modern design.
Frattini graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1953. Immediately after graduation, he began working in the studio of Gio Ponti, one of the masters of Italian design. This experience was fundamental for Frattini, as it profoundly influenced his approach to design.
Frattini’s philosophy was based on the integration of architecture and interior design. He believed that a project should be conceived holistically, where the architecture, furnishings and interior details work in harmony. This approach is reflected in his works, which often combine functionality and aesthetics in an elegant and innovative way.
Frattini collaborated with numerous world-famous furniture manufacturers, including Cassina, Arteluce, Bernini, Knoll and, of course, Molteni. His collaborations were characterized by continuous research into innovative materials and advanced production techniques. One of his most frequent partners was Cesare Cassina, with whom he developed many iconic pieces.
