Vintage Design
A splendid Coffe Table, most probably, due to design and materials used, made in Italy between the 1970s and the 1980s. The light color of the maple, the transparency of the glass and the airy surface of the wood grating make this table lightweight, airy virtually weightless Coffee Table. The frame and the table top are made of solid maple wood. The thin strips, inserted and glued together in a work of extreme precision, create a graphic pattern made up of empty rather than full spaces. This wood grating certainly draws inspiration from the nautical field, in which it is widely used for furnishing and finishing boats. This grid Pattern was popularity during the 1970s among the artists such Gianfranco Frattini, Gae Aulenti , and , not to forget the Italian esteemed cabinet maker Pierluigi Ghianda that was know for making pieces of furniture based on this layout. The maple veneered legs are fitted into this wooden grate like pieces of a puzzle while a transparent glass surmounts the whole by fitting perfectly into the frame.
