\n Pumpkin spice, anyone? Actually, in Mexico we don’t decorate pumpkins; we eat them. <\/p>\n

Anyway, I re-imagined and reupholstered this delightful carved hacienda chair with a hand loomed woolen tapestry from Oaxaca on the backrest, traditional Mexican cotton “manta” cloth on the seat, and red velvet on the back. It’s a striking combination.<\/p>\n

Like most Mexicans, I am descended from both indigenous people of our beautiful country — in my case probably Aztecs or Tlaxcalans — and Spanish colonists. I envision some of the most beautiful expressions of Mexican aesthetics as combinations of the amazing beauty of traditional Native American and Spanish craftsmanship.
